Condolence to Comrade Surendra a Sri Lankan Maoist!!
(Ajith Rupasinghe, known as Comrade Surendra, a revolutionary communist leader from Sri Lanka 14 February 1943-3 April 2017)
Our Party is badly perturbed by the news we come to learn that Ceylon Communist Party (Maoist) leader and once General Secretary of the Party, Ajith Rupasinghe, comrade Surendra passed away on 3 April 2017. He was born in 1943.
Comrade Surendra had assumed the leadership of the Ceylon Communist Party as the General Secretary after the death of Comrade N. Sanmugathasan . Later on he named the party Ceylon Communist Party (Maoist).
Comrade Surendra had supported the people’s war in Nepal and that support remained intact until the then leadership of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) abandoned the revolutionary line. Surendra had joined the Communist Movement while studying in USA and became revolutionary activist there. He always stood firm in the side of the revolutionary line in international communist movement.
Ceylon Communist Party had been one of the participant party of the Revolutionary Internationalist Movement RIM. As a participant party of the Maoist regional organization CCOMPOSA (Coordination Committee of the Maoist Parties and Organisation), Comrade Surendra had participated in this organisation. He tried to unify the Maoist forces in Sri Lanka several time which had undergone splits among small groupings. His Party had worked in the areas of the poor people in the tea garden of the hilly area of Ceylon. Comrade Surendra was an outstanding leader came out of the Singhala nationality to support the Tamil people and demanded the right of self determination of the Tamil nationality.
We express a deep condolence on the death of Comrade Surendra, we express our solidarity to the Maoist of Sri Lanka.

( शिलोन कम्युनिस्ट पार्टीका कुनै समयमा महासचिवसम्म रहिसक्नु भएका माओवादी कम्युनिस्ट नेता कमरेड अजित रुपासिंगे सुरेन्द्रको यहि अप्रिल ३ मा भएको निधनको सामाचारले हाम्रो पार्टीलाई दुःखित तुल्याएको छ । उहाँ सन् १९४३ मा जन्मनु भएको थियो ।
कमरेड शुरेन्द्रले शिलोन कम्युस्टि पार्टीका महासचिव एन. सन्मुगथाशनको निधनपछि महासचिवको जिम्मेवारी सम्हाल्नु भएको थियो । पछि उहाँले पार्टीको नाम शिलोन कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी (माओवादी) राख्नु भयो ।
कमरेड शुरेन्द्रले नेपालको जनयुद्धलाई पहिलेदेखिनै समर्थन गर्नु भयो र त्यो समर्थन तत्कालिन कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी माओवादीको नेतृत्वले क्रान्तिकारी कार्यदिशा परित्याग नगर्दासम्म पुर्ण समर्थन गर्नु भयो । शुरेन्द्रले संयुक्त राज्य अमेरीमाका अध्ययन गर्ने समयमै क्रान्तिकारी कम्युनिस्ट आन्दोलनमा काम गर्नु भएको थियो । अन्तराष्ट्रिय कम्युनिस्ट आन्दोलनमा उहाँ संधै क्रान्तिकारी लाईनमा रहनु भयो ।
शिलोन कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी क्रान्तिकारी अन्तर्राष्ट्रियतावादी आन्दोलन रिमको सदस्य रहेको थियो । माओवादी क्षेत्रीय संगठन कम्पोसामा कमरेड शुरेन्द्रले भाग लिनु भएको थियो । कमरेड शुरेन्द्रले श्रीलंकामा फुट र बिभाजनमा परेको पार्टीलाई एकताबद्ध गर्ने प्रयत्न गर्नु भएको थियो । कमरेड शुरेन्द्र त्यहाँको एकजना होनहार नेता हुनुहुन्थ्यो जो सिंहाला जातिबाट आएर तमिल जनताको आत्मनिर्णयको समर्थन गर्नु भएको थियो ।
हाम्रो पार्टी कमरेड शुरेन्द्रको निधनप्रति गहिरो समबेदना प्रकट गर्न चाहन्छ र शिलोन कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी (माओवादी) प्रति शोकलाई शक्तिमा बदल्ने अमियानमा ऐक्बद्धता जाहेर गर्दछ । )
